Julie (aka JK)
attended Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, Oregon
and was a member of both the volleyball and track teams. She
enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1980 and worked in the
Military Police field. During her six years in the Marine
Corp, Julie continued her passion for volleyball by playing
on the All-Marine women's team three years, and was selected
for the All-Armed Forces National team each year. She also
met and married her husband Kevin. When her oldest daughter
Keri became old enough to play, Julie began coaching
volleyball. Julie continued coaching when her son Chris, now
20, began playing.
Over
the past 13 years, Julie has earned a USA CAP level III,
IMPACT Instructor, and Master Conditioning Instructor
certifications from USA Volleyball. Julie also supports the
USA High Performance program by participating as a court
coach at local program tryouts and is a coach at the USA HP
Development Camps. Julie is an active member of the American
Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and was a presenter at
the 2007 AVCA convention in Sacramento. She is also a
certified "Double-Goal" coach and member of the Positive
Coaching Alliance.
With
a combined total of 5 years coaching at Vista High School,
Julie is currently in her 3rd year as the Varsity coach.
Julie directed and coached for the Athletic Fusion
Volleyball Club for 7 years and is enjoying her 3rd season
at San Diego Volleyball Club.
Julie
has worked as the Director of Development at St. Francis
School in Vista for 17 years. During her "down time", she
enjoys going to the gym and watching the Daily Show and
Colbert Report with her husband of 25 years, Kevin.
Julie
sees coaching as her opportunity to challenge athletes
physically and mentally while developing the attitude of
"team first". She feels this philosophy encourages players
to transition into adulthood with the confidence and
self-esteem to make good indiviual choices in their life,
family, school, the workforce, and ultimately as a patriotic
member of this United States. |
